Pattern Details (Size, Yarn, Hook & Notes)
Skill Level
Easy to Intermediate
Size
The pattern creates a blanket that is approximately 36” wide and 45“ high. Instructions for adjusting the size are included in the pattern.

Materials
Yarn: Any size 3 (light) yarn. You will need approximately 1,670 yds in total.
I used Snuggly Wuggly by Loops & Threads in the color “Soft Lilac.” This yarn is size 3 (light) and 100% acrylic. A skein is 446 yds / 408 m and 5 oz / 141 g. I used 4 skeins.
Crochet Hook Size: H/8 (5.00 mm).
Other Materials: Yarn needle, scissors and a measuring tape. Optional: stitch markers.
Terminology
This pattern is written for right-handed crochet using standard US terminology. If you’re more familiar with UK terms, here’s my US to UK Conversion Chart.
Abbreviations
- ch/chs = chain/chains
- dc = double crochet
- RS = right side (front)
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sk = skip
- st/sts = stitch/stitches
- tr = triple/treble crochet
- WS = wrong side (back)
Gauge
Exact sizing is not important. For reference, 4” x 4” = 14 sts and 13 rows. Pattern for gauge swatch: Ch 21. Follow the Blanket Body instructions for Row 1 and Row 2. Repeat Row 2 until work measures over 5” high.

Pattern Notes
- Chains never count as stitches.
- Always work into the first stitch (the stitch attached to the chain) unless instructed to skip it.
- All rows of the blanket body have 110 stitches.
- When the pattern says something like:
“[Sc. Dc.] x 5 (across 10 sts),” this means: Sc in the next st. Dc in the next st. Continue repeating: “sc in the next st, dc in the next st” a total of 5 times and until a total of 10 sts are made (5 sc and 5 dc). - On right side (RS) rows, the front of the blanket will be facing you where the Bobbles will be shown. On wrong side (WS) rows, the back will be facing you. All Bobbles are made on wrong side rows (but are only shown on the front).
Special Stitch
Bobble: A “Bobble” in this pattern is a double crochet five together (dc5tog) into the same stitch.
Here is how to do it: Yarn over (YO), insert your hook into the next stitch, YO and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). YO, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook). YO, insert your hook into the same stitch, YO and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook). YO, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook (3 loops on hook). YO, insert your hook into the same stitch, YO and pull up a loop (5 loops on hook). YO, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook (4 loops on hook). YO, insert your hook into the same stitch, YO and pull up a loop (6 loops on hook). YO, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook (5 loops on hook). YO, insert your hook into the same stitch, YO and pull up a loop (7 loops on hook). YO, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook (6 loops on hook). YO, pull yarn through all 6 loops on hook. This completed Bobble counts as 1 stitch.
The next stitch after making a Bobble is always a single crochet. When making your single crochet in the next stitch, push the Bobble to the front (away from you) and crochet tightly as you make the single crochet stitch.
When working into a Bobble from the previous row, you will always be making a single crochet stitch into the Bobble. Treat the Bobble like any other stitch and make the one single crochet stitch normally into the top two loops of the Bobble stitch.

How to Adjust the Size
The number of starting chains determines the width and the number of rows determines the height.
To adjust the width, make more or less starting chains in multiples of 44 + 23 (meaning to take any number that you can divide by 44 and add 23 to that number i.e. 88 + 23 = 111 starting chains required).
For reference, making 111 starting chains creates a blanket that is approximately 33” wide (without the border).
To adjust the height, complete Rows 1 – 36 as many times as you would like then finish with Rows 1 – 18.

After reaching your desired height, do not fasten off. Proceed to the Blanket Border instructions.

Blanket Border
Border Round 1 (WS): Ch 1. Do not turn(the wrong side should be facing you).
SIDE (DOWN): Sc evenly down the side.
Exact st placement and exact number of sts are not important. The goal is to have evenly-spaced sc sts down (and up) the side. Work into sts (under 1 loop or 2) at the end of each row.
BOTTOM – In the first ch across the bottom, make 3 sc in the same ch (first corner made). Sc in each ch across the bottom until there is 1 ch left.
In the last ch, make 3 sc in the same ch (second corner made).
SIDE (UP) – Sc evenly up the side (same as working down the side).
TOP – In the first st across the top, make 3 sc in the same st (third corner made).
Sc in each st across the top until there is 1 st left.
In the last st, make 3 sc in the same st (fourth corner made).

Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
Blocking (Optional)
Blocking can help shape your blanket and even out any irregularities. To block your finished blanket, soak it briefly in water, pin it on blocking boards and leave it to dry. Alternatively, pin it on blocking boards, spray it with water and leave it to dry.
Pattern Chart
Pattern Chart Notes:
- The chart is read from right to left on every row.
- At the start of each row, ch 1 and turn.
- For a blanket that is approximately 42″ high (without the border), complete Rows 1 – 36 three times in total, then complete Rows 1 – 18.
- To adjust the height, complete Rows 1 – 36 as many times as you would like then finish with Rows 1 – 18.
Pattern Chart Legend:
- White Square = single crochet
- Grey Square = double crochet
- Black Dot = Bobble

If Adjusting the Size:
If you are adjusting the size of the blanket: columns 1 to 44 of the Pattern Chart are the stitches you will be repeating across the row until there are 22 stitches left in the row. Then, follow the chart for columns 89 to 110 to complete the row.
