  • For the fluffy top, I used Bernat Pipsqueak (approximately 12 yards). This yarn is bulky (5) weight. The size is 3.50 oz. / 100 g. A skein is 101 yd / 92 m. The exact color is called “Whitey White.”

Measure work: diameter (a straight line from one end point, through the center, to another end point) should be 6.5″.

Note: The right side should be facing up, the wrong side facing down (the wrong side will be the bottom of the TP Holder – what is touching the surface it’s on)

Sides

Round 8: Ch 1 and turn. Skip the first st (the st attached to the ch) (Please note: this is the only time in the pattern you are required to turn and skip the st attached to the chain). In the next st, hdc into the back loops only (BLO) (the loops furthest away from you). Hdc into the BLO of each st around (70 sts). Sl st into the top of the 1st hdc to join.

Round 9: Ch 1. Hdc into the 1st st and into each st around. (70 sts). Sl st into the top of the 1st hdc to join.

Round 10: Repeat Round 9.

Round 11 (Belt): Change colors: attach black yarn with a sl st. You can leave red yarn hanging as long as it’s in the inside of your work (along the wrong side) and pick it back up again after the belt. Do not ch. With black yarn, hdc in 1st st and in each st around. (70 sts). Sl st into top of 1st hdc to join.

Round 12 (Belt Continued): Still with black yarn, ch 1 and hdc in 1st st and in each st around. (70 sts). Slip st into top of 1st hdc to join.

Round 15: Repeat Round 14.

Round 16 (Santa’s “fur”): Change colors: fasten off red yarn and attach fluffy white yarn with a sl st. do not ch. Sc in each st around. Sl st into 1st sc to join. (70 sts)

Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Belt Buckle

With golden yellow colored yarn, ch 22.

The rest of the belt buckle is worked in a continuous row.

1st Rectangle Side (short): In 2nd ch from hook, sc into back ridge loop. (Interweave has a great diagram of where the back ridge loop is here). In next 2 chains, sc into back ridge loop. In next ch, sc x 3 into same back ridge loop.

2nd Rectangle Side (long): sc into next 6 back ridge loops. In next ch, sc x 3 into same back ridge loop.

3rd Rectangle Side (short): sc into next 3 back ridge loops. In next ch, sc x 3 into same back ridge loop.

4th Rectangle Side (long): sc into next 6 back ridge loops. sl st into 1st sc to join.

Fasten off leaving a 24″ tail. Using a yarn needle, weave in the first end to belt buckle. Still with your yarn needle, attach the belt buckle to the front and center of the Christmas Toilet Paper Holder with the rounds of black in the middle.  I recommend weaving along the outside of the belt buckle (underneath the outside stitches) all the way around and then weave along inside of the belt buckle (underneath the inside stitches).
