Christmas Crochet Wine Bottle Holder Pattern Notes
SKILL LEVEL
Easy
SIZE
This pattern is designed to hold a standard 750ml wine bottle. The finished size has a diameter of 3.5” and is 7” high.
GAUGE
4′′ x 4′′ = 8 stars and 8 rows (made as a flat swatch, following the pattern)
MATERIALS
Yarn: Any worsted weight (4) yarn for everything but the top and bulky fleece (5) yarn for the fluffy white “Santa fur” top.
I used Loops & Threads Impeccable Yarn, Solid (for everything but the fluffy white top). This yarn is medium (4) weight and 100% acrylic. A skein is 4.5 oz / 127.5 g and 285 yd./260m.
- I used the color “Cherry” for the body (approx a quarter skein); the color “Black” for the belt (approx 12 yards); and the color “Sunny Day” for the belt buckle (approx a few yards).
- For the fluffy top, I used Bernat Pipsqueak (approx 10 yards) in “Whitey White.” This yarn is bulky (5) weight. A skein is 3.5 oz / 100 g and 101 yd / 92 m.
Crochet Hook Size: H/8 (5.00mm) (or size needed to obtain gauge) for everything but the belt buckle and F/5 (3.75mm) for the belt buckle.
Other Materials: yarn needle, scissors, measuring tape.

The star you just created has 6 “spikes,” with the 1st spike being closest to the top. Insert your hook in between the 5th and 6th spike and pull through loop (3 loops on hook). The 6th spike is attached to the next st. Insert your hook into the st attached to 6th spike and pull through loop (4 loops on hook). Insert hook into next st and pull through loop (5 loops on hook). Insert hook into next st and pull through loop (6 loops on hook). YO and pull yarn through all 6 loops. Ch 1 to complete the star.

Round 9 (Belt): Still with black yarn, repeat Round 3.
Round 10: Pick up/attach red yarn with a sl st. Fasten off black yarn. With red yarn, repeat Round 2. Continue using red yarn until Round 16.

Round 16 (Santa’s Fur): Attach fluffy white yarn with a sl st. Fasten off red yarn. With white yarn, sc in each st around. Join with a sl st into 1st sc made.
Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Fasten off leaving a 12″ tail. Weave in the first end to belt buckle. Using a yarn needle, attach belt buckle to the wine bottle holder on the front center of holder with the rows of black in the middle.
And now you have a very festive wine bottle holder!
