Below you will find three free patterns for Halloween crochet wine bottle toppers including a witch hat, ghost and pumpkin. All of them are very easy patterns and super quick to make, plus they use very little yarn (under 20 yds each). Make them for your own wine bottles or to give as a Halloween gift!

Crochet Witch Hat Wine Bottle Topper
Size
Finished Size: Approx. 3″ high and 3″ wide (with an opening of 1.5″)
Materials
Yarn: Approx. 18 yds of any size 4, medium, worsted weight yarn. I used Loops & Threads Impeccable Yarn, Solid in Black. This yarn is medium (4) weight and 100% acrylic. A skein is 4.5 oz / 127.5 g and 285 yd./260m.
Crochet Hook: G/6 (4.00 mm)
Other Materials: yarn needle, scissors
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- st = stitch
- sts = stitches
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- FLO = front loop only
Pattern Notes
- This pattern is worked in the round, do not turn at the end of any round.
- Always work into the 1st st, the st attached to the chain.
- Ensure the right side (the outside of your work) is facing you.

Pattern Instructions
Start: Make a Magic Circle/Ring.
Round 1: Make 3 sc in the magic circle. Pull tight to close. Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 2: Ch 1. 2 sc in each st around. (6 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 3: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. (6 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 4: Ch 1. *2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. (9 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 5: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. (9 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 6: Ch 1. *2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around until there is 1 st left. In last st, sc. (13 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 7: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. (13 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 8: Ch 1. *2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * around until there is 1 st left. In last st, sc. (17 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 9: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. (17 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 10: Ch 1. *2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next 3 sts.* Repeat from * to * around until there is 1 st left. In last st, sc. (21 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 11: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. (21 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Reminder: ensure the right side (outside of your work) is facing you.
Round 12: Ch 1. Sc in the in FLO (front loop only, which is the loop closest to you) of each st around. (21 sts). Sl st into both loops of 1st sc to join.
Round 13: Ch 1. *2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next 2 sts st.* Repeat from * to * around until there is 1 st left. In last st, 2 sc. (32 sts). Sl st into 1st sc to join.
Round 14: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. (32 sts). Sl st in 1st sc to join.
Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
Crochet Ghost Wine Topper
Size
Finished Size: Approx. 3″ high and 1.5″ wide
Materials
Yarn: Approx. 18 yds of any size 4, medium, worsted weight yarn. I used Loops & Threads Impeccable Yarn, Solid in White. This yarn is medium (4) weight and 100% acrylic. A skein is 4.5 oz / 127.5 g and 285 yd./260m.
Crochet Hook: G/6 (4.00 mm)
Other Materials: yarn needle, scissors, black felt for eyes and fabric glue
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- st = stitch
- sts = stitches
- sl st = slip stitch
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
Pattern Notes
- This pattern is worked in the round, do not turn at the end of any round.
- Always work into the 1st st, the st attached to the chain.
- Ensure the right side (the outside of your work) is facing you.

Pattern Instructions
Start: Make a Magic Circle/Ring.
Round 1: Make 7 hdc in magic circle. Pull tight to close. Sl st into top of 1st hdc to join.
Round 2: Ch 1. 2 hdc in each st around. (14 sts). Sl st into top of 1st hdc to join.
Round 3: Ch 1. Hdc in each st around. (14 sts). Sl st into top of 1st hdc to join.
Rounds 4, 5, 6 & 7: Repeat Round 3.
Round 8: Ch 1. *In the next st, sl st. In the next st, make 3 dc in same st.* Repeat from * to * around. (28 sts including sl sts). Sl st into 1st sl st to join.
Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
Eyes – cut out 2 oval shapes (approx. 0.5″ high and 3/8″ wide) from black felt.
Mouth – cut out 1 oval shape (approx. 6/8″ high and 3/8″ wide) from black felt.
Use fabric glue to attach to crochet ghost.
Crochet Pumpkin Wine Topper
Size
Finished Size: Approx. 2.5″ high (not including the stem) and 4″ wide (with a 1.5″ opening for the top of the wine bottle)
Materials
Yarn: Approx. 3 yrds of brown and 20 yds of orange of any size 4, medium, worsted weight yarn. I used Loops & Threads Impeccable Yarn, Solid in the colors “Soft Taupe” and “Pumpkin.” This yarn is medium (4) weight and 100% acrylic. A skein is 4.5 oz / 127.5 g and 285 yd./260m.
Crochet Hook: G/6 (4.00 mm)
Other Materials: yarn needle, scissors.

- ch = chain
- st = stitch
- sts = stitches
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- dc2tog = double crochet 2 stitches together
- BLO = back loop only
- FLO = front loop only

Start: With brown, make a Magic Circle/Ring.
Round 1: Make sc in magic circle. Pull tight to close. Sl st into 1st sc to join.
Round 2: Ch 1. Sc in the BLO (back loop only, which is the loop furthest away from you) of each st around. (6 sts). Sl st into both loops of 1st sc to join.
Round 3: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. (6 sts). Sl st into 1st sc to join.
Round 4: Attach orange yarn by placing a strand of orange on your hook and pulling it through the loop of brown that is currently on your hook. Fasten off brown yarn. With orange, ch 1. Working into the FLO (front loopy only, which is the loop closest to you), make 2 dc in the FLO of each st around. (12 sts). Sl st into both loops of the top of the 1st dc to join.
Round 5: Ch 1. Make 2 dc in each st around. (24 sts). Sl st into the top of the 1st dc to join.
Round 6: Ch 1. *In the next st, 2 dc. In the next st, 1 dc.* Repeat from * to * around. (36 sts). Sl st into the top of the 1st dc to join.
Round 7: Ch 1. Dc in each st around. (36 sts). Sl st into the top of the 1st dc to join.
Round 8: Ch 1. *Over the next 2 sts, dc2tog.* Repeat from * to * around. (18 sts). Sl st into the top of the 1st dc to join.
Round 9: Ch 1. Dc in each st around. (18 sts). Sl st into the top of the 1st dc to join.
Round 10: Ch 1. *Over the next 2 sts, dc2tog. In the next st, dc.* Repeat from * to * around. (12 sts). Sl st into the top of the 1st dc to join.

And now you have new Halloween wine toppers!
