Crochet Summer Headband
This beautiful crochet summer headband is perfect for windy days at the beach, working out, washing your face and to wear in the summer or anytime of the year. It’s very fashionable and you can make it in any color to match your wardrobe.

The pattern creates a headband that is approx. 16.5″ long and has braids on both ends, which are then tied together at the back of your head. This size fits both kids and adults! But you can easily make it shorter or longer.

This summer crochet headband is a super fast pattern. You can make a headband in under 30 minutes! It’s also a great scrap-busting project as you only need approx. 35 yards of any size 4 cotton yarn.
Because you can make a headband so quickly with very little yarn, these summer crochet headbands are great to give as gifts or to sell at craft shows.
The pattern is very easy and includes step by step, clear instructions as well as a photo tutorial to ensure you have no troubles following along.

The best part of this pattern is that starting and end tails get incorporated into the braid so you don’t need to weave in any ends!

How to Crochet the Summer Headband (Pattern Instructions)
Headband
Start: Leave a 12” tail. Chain 2.
Row 1: In the second ch from hook, sc. (1 st).
Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. In the first st (the st attached to the chain), 3 dc in the same st. (3 sts. Reminder: chains never count as sts.).
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. In the first st (the st attached to the chain), (sc, ch 2 and 2 dc) in the same st. Skip the next st. In the last st, (sc, ch 2 and 2 dc) in the same st. (6 sts).
Note: every time you ch 2, it creates a ch-2 space that you will work into on the following row.
Row 4: Ch 1 and turn. For this row, only work into the ch-2 spaces (not stitches). Working into the first ch-2 sp, (sc, ch 2 and 2 dc) in the same space. Working into the last ch-2 sp, (sc, ch 2 and 2 dc) in the same space. (6 sts).

Repeat Row 4 until your work measures approx. 15” (which is approx. 22 rows) or your desired height. You can end after any row. Once you reach 15” or your desired height, continue the pattern.
Row 5: Ch 2 and turn. For this row, only work into the ch-2 spaces (not stitches). In the first ch-2 sp, dc2tog in the same space. In the last ch-2 sp, dc2tog in the same space. (2 sts).

Row 6: Ch 1 and turn. Working into the top of the first st and the top of the last st, sc2tog. (1 st).

Cut your yarn, leaving a 12” tail and fasten off by pulling the tail through the loop that was on your hook.

Braids
Cut 6 x 24” strands of yarn.
Pull 3 strands through the 1st sc made at the start of the pattern. Ensure equal lengths on either side. Pull the 12” starting tail through the st as well and incorporate it into the braid.
Separate the strands into 3 groups (2 strands, 2 strands and 3 strands) and braid them until the length is 5” long. Tie a knot at the end. Cut the ends approx. 0.5” from the knot.
Repeat on the other end of the headband, pulling 3 strands and the 12” end tail through the last st made.
