Daisy Crochet Coaster Holder
Since releasing my crochet daisy coasters, I’ve received lots of requests for a matching coaster holder.
I’m excited to share this pattern for a coordinating coaster container, which will store your daisy coasters beautifully.

The base of this holder matches the daisy coaster design. Sturdy, textured sides are then added to keep the coasters organized.

Size
The pattern creates a coaster holder that is approx. 6” across and 2” high. It was designed to hold approx. four Daisy Flower Coasters. You can adjust the height to hold more coasters (instructions are included in the pattern).

Materials
Yarn: Approx. 80 yds of any size 4 (medium) yarn.
I used Impeccable yarn by Loops & Threads in the color “Deep Forest.” This yarn is size 4 (medium) and 100% acrylic. A skein is 285 yds / 260 m and 4.5 oz / 127.5 g.
Crochet Hook Size: G/7 (4.50 mm).
Other Materials: Yarn needle, scissors and a measuring tape.
Terminology
This pattern is written for right-handed crochet using standard US terminology. If you’re more familiar with UK terms, here’s my US to UK Conversion Chart.
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- st = stitch
- sts = stitches
- sk = skip
- sl st = slip stitch
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- tr2tog = triple/treble crochet two together
- tr3tog = triple/treble crochet three together
- ch-1 sp = chain one space
- ch-2 sp = chain two space
- YO = yarn over
- RS = right side/front
- WS = wrong side/back
- FLO = front loops only

Gauge
After Round 2, work should measure 3.5” across.
Pattern Notes
- Chains never count as stitches.
- Your work may curl during the first few rounds but will lay flat after Round 4.
Stitch Explanations
In case these stitches are new to you:
Triple/Treble Crochet Two Together (tr2tog)
YO twice. Insert your hook into the designated st. YO and pull through a loop (4 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through 2 loops on your hook (3 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through 2 loops on your hook (2 loops on your hook). YO twice and insert your hook into the same st. YO and pull through a loop (5 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through 2 loops on your hook (4 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through 2 loops on your hook (3 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through the 3 loops on your hook.
Triple/Treble Crochet Three Together (tr3tog)
YO twice. Insert your hook into the designated st. YO and pull through a loop (4 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through 2 loops on your hook (3 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through 2 loops on your hook (2 loops on your hook). YO twice and insert your hook into the same st. YO and pull through a loop (5 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through 2 loops on your hook (4 loops on your hook). YO and pull the yarn through 2 loops on your hook (3 loops on your hook). YO twice and insert your hook into the same st. Pattern Instructions
Daisy Coaster Holder Bottom

Start: Make a Magic Circle.
Round 1: Ch 1. Make 12 dc into the Magic Circle.
Pull Magic Circle tight to close.
(12 dc sts. Reminder: chains never count as sts.)
Sl st into the top of the first dc st to join.
Round 2: Ch 3. Don’t turn.
In the same (first) st, tr2tog.
*Ch 2. In the next st, tr3tog.*
Repeat from * to * around.
(1 tr2tog + 11 tr3tog = 12 sts).
Ch 2.
Sl st into the top of the first (tr2tog) st to join.
Round 3: Don’t turn.
Sl st in the first ch-2 sp.
Ch 1.
In the same (first) ch-2 sp, (2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc).
*In the next ch-2 sp, (2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc).*
Repeat from * to * around.
(48 hdc sts).
Sl st into the top of the first hdc st to join.

Round 4: Ch 1. Don’t turn.
Sk the first 2 sts (the st attached to the ch and the next st).
In the first ch-1 sp, 5 dc.
*Sk the next st.
In the next st, sl st.
Sk the next 2 sts.
In the next ch-1 sp, 5 dc.*
Repeat from * to * around until there are 2 sts left.
Sk the last 2 sts.
(5 dc x 12 = 60 dc sts).
Sl st into the top of the first dc st to join.

Round 5: Ch 1. Don’t turn.
In the first st (the st attached to the ch), 2 hdc.
Sc in the next 4 sts.
Sk the next st (the sl st from the previous round).
*In the next st, 2 hdc.
Sc in the next 4 sts.
Sk the next st (the sl st from the previous round).*
Repeat from * to * around.
(24 hdc sts + 48 sc sts = 72 sts).
Sl st into the top of the first hdc st to join.
Do not fasten off.

Daisy Coaster Holder Sides
NOTES FOR SIDES:
- The round numbers will now reset to make it easier to count from the bottom up.
- Starting on Round 2, you will chain 1 and turn at the beginning of each round.
- The stitch attached to the chain is a slip stitch from the previous round. This slip stitch does not count as a stitch and never gets worked into. You will always work into the next stitch.
- On right side (RS) rounds, the front/outside of your work will be facing you. On wrong side (WS) rounds, the back/inside of your work will be facing you.

For Round 1 (only) you will be working into the front loops only (FLO), which are the loops closest to you.
Sides Round 1: Ch 1. Don’t turn.
In the FLO of the first st (the st attached to the ch), hdc.
In the FLO of the next st, sl st loosely.
*In the FLO of the next st, hdc.
In the FLO of the next st, sl st loosely.*
Repeat from * to * around.
(36 hdc sts + 36 sl sts = 72 sts).
Sl st into both loops of the top of the first hdc st to join.
Work in both loops from now on.

Sides Round 2 (RS): Ch 1 and turn.
Sk the st attached to the ch.
*In the next st (the top of the sl st from the previous round), hdc.
In the next st (the top of the hdc from the previous round), sl st loosely.*
Repeat from * to * around.
(36 hdc sts + 36 sl sts = 72 sts).
Sl st into the top of the first hdc st to join.

Sides Round 3 (WS): Repeat Round 2.
Sides Round 4 (RS): Repeat Round 2.
Sides Round 5 (WS): Repeat Round 2.
Sides Round 6 (RS): Repeat Round 2.
Sides Round 7 (WS): Repeat Round 2.
Sides Round 8 (RS): Repeat Round 2. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
(After Round 8, work should measure 2” high, which holds approx. 4 coasters). To adjust the height, make more or less rounds. End after completing a RS round).
