Crochet Laptop Case
Searching for a crochet laptop case pattern? You’ve come to the right place! This free pattern for a crochet laptop sleeve is made with two strands of yarn held together, which creates a soft, squishy, dense fabric and offers ample protection for your laptop.
The pattern is adjustable so you can easily customize the size to fit your specific laptop. This laptop case is made with only single crochet and chain stitches, making it a very easy pattern.

The case is made as one piece and works up very quickly. The bottom is then folded up and the sides are single crocheted together.
In a short amount of time, you’ll have a laptop sleeve that you can put in your bag and bring to school, to work or when traveling.
This laptop case is a wonderful gift idea for anyone with a laptop!

Laptop Case Crochet Pattern Details

Size
The pattern creates a laptop case that is approx. 14” wide and 9” high (when closed).

Materials
Yarn: This pattern is worked with two strands of yarn held together for the entire pattern so you can either separate your yarn manually or use multiple skeins. You will need approx. 500 yds / 220 g in total (250 yds / 110 g and 250 yds / 110 g when separated) of any size 4 (medium) yarn.
I used Impeccable yarn by Loops & Threads in the color “Blue Moon.” This yarn is size 4 (medium) and 100% acrylic. A skein is 285 yds / 260 m and 4.5 oz / 127.5 g. I used two skeins in total.
Crochet Hook Size: K/10.5 (6.50 mm)
Other Materials: Yarn needle, scissors, a measuring tape, a 1” (25 mm) button, sewing needle and thread.
Terminology
This pattern is written for right-handed crochet using standard US terminology. If you’re more familiar with UK terms, here’s my US to UK Conversion Chart.
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- st = stitch
- sts = stitches
- sk = skip
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- ch-1 sp = chain 1 space
- ch-2 sp = chain 2 space

Gauge
4” x 4” = 7 sc and 13 rows following the pattern. To make a gauge swatch, chain 27 and follow the pattern. Only count sc sts (not chains or spaces).
Pattern Notes
- Use two strands of yarn held together for the entire pattern, treating them as one strand and crocheting normally.
- Chains never count as stitches.
- The pattern is made from the chain row up. The number of starting chains determines the width and the number of rows determines the height. To adjust the width, make fewer or more starting chains in multiples of 2 + 1. To adjust the height, make fewer or more rows.
Please note: This pattern and all images associated with this pattern cannot be copied, shared, altered or sold on your own. You are welcome to sell the finished product but please include a link (if online) and reference jototheworld.com.

Laptop Sleeve Crochet Pattern Instructions
Start: With two strands of yarn held together, chain 45. Use two strands of yarn held together for the entire pattern.
Row 1: In the third chain from hook, sc (the space between your chains and the sc creates a ch-2 sp, which you will work into on the next row). *Ch 1. Sk the next ch. In the next ch, sc (this creates a ch-1 sp that you will work into on the next row).* Repeat from * to * across row. (Your final st is a sc in the last ch of the row). (22 sc made. 1 ch-2 sp and 21 ch-1 spaces created).
Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. In the first ch-1 sp from the previous row, sc (this creates a new ch-2 sp). *Ch 1. In the next ch-1 sp from the previous row, sc (new ch-1 sp created).* Repeat from * to * across row until the ch-2 sp at the end. Ch 1. In the ch-2 sp (the space between the two starting chains and the last sc from the previous row), sc. (22 sc made. 1 ch-2 sp and 21 ch-1 spaces created).

Row 3 and on: Repeat Row 2 until the height of your work measures approx. 20” (approx. 62 rows) or your desired height.
Note: after Row 3, the width of your work should measure approx. 13” wide (and should continue to be this width for the rest of the pattern). If your width is different, you may want to start again with a different hook size or make fewer or more starting chains.
All rows have the same number of stitches. You can end after any number of rows. After reaching your desired height, proceed to the final row.
Final Row: Ch 1 and turn. Sc in the first ch-1 sp. *Ch 1. Sc in the next ch-1 sp.* Repeat from a * to * a total of 10 times.
You will now be creating a button hole, which is designed to fit a 1” (25 mm) button. To adjust the button hole size, make less or more chains.
Ch 3. Sc in the next ch-1 sp. *Ch 1. Sc in the next ch-1 sp.* Repeat from * to * across until the last (ch-2) sp. Ch 1. Sc in the ch-2 sp. (22 sc made).
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.

Assembly
It doesn’t matter which side is facing down/up.
With the Chain Row at the bottom and the Final Row at the top, fold the bottom up to create an 8.5” pocket.

Attach two strands of yarn through both sides at the bottom right corner with a sl st. Sc in the same stitch/space. Sc the two sides together evenly up. Sl st into each ch of the front piece only across. Sc the two sides together evenly down. After the last st (at the bottom left corner), fasten off and weave in loose ends.

With a sewing needle and thread (or yarn), sew a button onto the front piece in the center so it fits in the button hole when the flap is down.

And now you have a new laptop case!
