Crochet Freeze Pop Holder
At our house, we call them freezies and the moment they are available in the stores (usually mid-spring) my kids become obsessed! However, their hands always get so cold holding them. One day, my six year old asked me to crochet her a holder for her freeze pop. I asked what she would like it to look like and she said a flower. Fast forward a short amount of time later…. tada!

Freeze Pop/Freezie Holder
One thing I didn’t know before designing this Freeze Pop Holder is that the name for a freezie (or freeze pop) varies significantly between regions. The name freezie is most commonly used in Canada, which is where we are.
I was quite interested to learn that in the United States, it is often called a freeze pop, freezer pop, Icee, Otter Pop, Fla-Vor-Ice, and Pop-Ice. In Australia – icy pole, in India – sip up and Pepsi Ice, in the Philippines – ice candy and in the UK – Mr. Freeze.
Those are a lot of names for the same thing! So whether you call it a freezie, freeze pop, freezer pop, icy pole or Mr. Freeze, this pattern for a holder/cozy is designed to hold frozen confection inside plastic casing (the definition of a freezie as stated on Wikipedia).

It can also be called a holder or cozy or hand protector. So now you know a little bit more about freeze pops, let’s get to the pattern!
You can use the Table of Contents below or keep scrolling down for all the details and written instructions.
Crochet Flower Freeze Pop Holder
As you can see, the flower on the freeze pop holder in the photos are sunflowers. But you don’t need to make your freezie cozies as sunflowers. Simply change the colors to make any flowers you’d like! I will be making a whole bouquet in the near future as I already have a ton of requests to make them for my friends’ kids.
The pattern is really easy and works up super quickly (approx. under 45 min!). It uses only a small amount of yarn, making it a great scrap-busting project. And a huge plus for me is that the sections are all worked continuously so other than the ends, there’s no sewing involved.
