Insert hook into the next 3 sts and pull through loops (6 loops on hook). YO and pull yarn through all 6 loops. Ch 1 to complete the 1st star.

Repeat Regular Star instructions across row until there is 1 st left. (17 stars made in total – 1 starting star and 16 regular stars). 2 hdc in the last st.

A height of 3” should fit most standard coffee mugs. If you are happy with this height, do not fasten off. Start button strap instructions.
If you have a tall mug and would like a height of 4”, repeat Rows 3 & 2. Once complete, do not fasten off. Start button strap instructions.
Button Strap Instructions
Do not turn. Ch 8 (tightly). Working into the end of the side of the cozy and going down, sl st next to the chain to form a loop. Sl st all the way down the side. Sl st into last st on side. Ch 8 (tightly). Sl st into the 2nd last sl st made to form a loop. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Button Instructions
Test out the mug cozy on your mug to ensure proper button placement before sewing it on.

Sew on buttons on the opposite ends from the button straps with thread. Place button approximately 0.5″ away from end (placement spot may change depending on your work and size of mug, ensure strap fits over the button before sewing).
